Monorail bends very easily by hand to almost any imaginable shape, but the pre-bent 90° curve and S curve make Monorail even easier to install.

Horizontal 90° curves are sold by radius, or the distance from the center of the circle to the outside edge. Join four 90° curves to create a circle with a width (overall width) equal to twice the specified radius. Rated for 300 watts at 12 volts, 600 watts at 24 volts. Each piece of rail is shipped with conductive connectors to join rail pieces end to end. Order additional connectors if cutting and rejoining rails.

The Mini answers the question, how small can it be? At 1.4 inches deep and 5.25 inches in diameter, it is the smallest 300 watt surface Monorail transformer in the industry. It installs similarly to Tech Lighting's existing family of 300 watt transformers and practically disappears on the Monorail system.

The transformer is concealed inside a small decorative housing with a single integral power feed and fast acting secondary short circuit and overload protection that will safely turn the system off should a short occur. Once the short has been removed, the unit can be reset by simply flipping the wall switch off and on.

Tech Lighting Monorail Remodel Recessed Transformers

Remodel Recessed Transformers install in a similar fashion as remodel recessed downlights and are concealed inside a housing that recesses above the ceiling. The decorative canopy is the only visible portion of the transformer once installed.

Remodel Recessed Transformers look similar from below the ceiling to the power feed canopies used with remote transformers and are preferred for their clean look.

An additional benefit they have over remote transformers is that they do not require access to a remote location because the transformer sits just above the ceiling. However, they are not compatible with all finished ceilings because an electrician will need to install the Remodel Recessed Transformer in close proximity to an existing junction box, drill through the finished ceiling in the location where the Remodel Recessed Transformer will be installed, and cover the existing junction box with the provided field-paintable metal cover. In new construction, an electrician can simply bring power to the Remodel Recessed Transformer directly.

The Remodel Recessed Transformer has an integral power feed so there is no need for a separate power feed; however, the transformer must be installed directly above the rail run. Insulation must be kept at least 3 inches away from the transformer and housing. This transformer is equipped with fast-acting short circuit and overload protection that will safely turn off the system should a short occur. Once the short is removed, the unit can be reset by simply flipping the wall switch off and back on.

Monorail from Tech Lighting

Monorail from Tech Lighting offers all the function and flexibility of a track lighting system without sacrificing form. The rail is hand bendable, so you can custom create the ideal shape to enhance and illuminate any room. Try a smooth curve to follow the line of a column or kitchen island, or create drama by running Monorail along a soffit. Two-Circuit Monorail provides two individually switchable circuits on a single run for a new level of lighting control.

Tech Lighting Monorail is ordered as separate parts, Monorail, supports, transformers and the lights themselves. They are also available as kits.
